Extremely rare. I don't even have one in my own collection yet.
As for the price, these are very costly even within Japan (One with a nick on the base was recently offered there for 14000 yen.) and I have to pay for the figure and its (nominal) shipping to my source, pay my source a percentage, pay for shipping to me, shipping to the buyer, and pay a percentage to eBay and Paypal.
I virtually never editorialize in my descriptions but this figure--its sculpt/pose, paint, and overall accuracy--is spectacular, particularly for a figure so small.
A good number of Kitan and Kaiyodo figures are garnering increasingly higher prices even within Japan since I began buying there and selling internationally. This figure and its set's even less frequently offered companion giraffe are among those that demand the highest prices. Certain Kaiyodo Aquarium sets are among others selling very high. The Sunshine Aquarium's three poison dart frogs are among the highest individually with one listed in Japan now for around 0. And I've see the Shinigawa Aquarium set go for over 0. There's a very limited Kitan squid for which multiple sellers recently asked over 100000 yen each. I can't recall if they sold. And I could go on with many more individuals.
It's difficult to imagine that these trends will ever reverse.
I can get and list virtually any Kaiyodo or related figure and my goal is to always offer the lowest prices on eBay.
And please watch my listings for future Ikimon (the company that took over the Nature Techni colour line from Kitan Club) figures. There are around 20 prototypes among three sets (Japan, China, Australia) being shown on sites in Japan that, if produced, will be extraordinary.
