Works GREAT with Bose Sounddock

This item works great with the Bose Sounddock. You should know Bluetooth must be turned off and when you're playing music you must select Sounddock as your output for audio.

Buy this instead of the adapter if you have a case. The adapter won't fit with a case.

I was lucky to find one of these in the apple store whilst visiting the US.
it works fine with all my speaker systems, philips clock radio and even has full support with my Griffin in car charger/ iphone control.
i also have a case on my phone and glad they did not have the standard lightening connector in as this would not have fit.. this is Superb..

I really love these cables/adapters. Expensive perhaps but the elegant design makes them totally worth it. I've got two - one for home and one for office!

Great Adapter! Ridiculously Priced!!!

I bought the cable from Apple after trying a cheaper Chinese cable. The Chinese cable only charged my phone. I could not get it to play music through the cable. I use a JBL ON STAGE 400P. The Apple cable worked great. I cannot believe how Apple gouges customers for simple cables that are needed when THEY switched to the lightning plug. We as customers are held basically without any choice and Apple should reconsider the outrageous price that they ask for the necessary adapters that all consumers need. Hey! We already sink enough money into your many devices, so why not treat us fairly!?!?
The adapter cable from Apple works great!

Works great for my needs. In my car I'm able to change songs on my iphone through the steering wheel & it charges as well. On my Bose sound dock I'm able to change songs with the remote. Only downside is the price & I'm thinking I need another one to keep in my car.

iphone adapter for Audi A5
Written by
Thomas K
from broomall

I have an Audi a5 without Navigation. I used a Ipod/Iphone cable with the "Blue" Grommet. This new adapter allows my IPhone to connect seamlessly, with the added benefit that I can now stream Pandora and the AUDI MMI system recognizes the songs. With previous IPhones the audio system would time out while streaming Pandora and revert to music on my iphone.
This cable is pricey at .00 but I wasn't willing to take a chance on a cable from a third party manufacturer. Also, the extra 8 inches on the cable makes maneuvering the phone much easier.

Bought yesterday at the Apple store and tried already with my Sony Speakers Dock RDP-M5ip, Philips Clock Radio AJ3270D/17 and Sony Bluray Player BDV-N790W with Ipod reader, and everything work just fine! I have the new Iphone 5 64Gb and these are just the few adapaters I have. I will still have to try my Onkyo A/V receiver TX-NR5007 ipod adapter UP-A1 adapter, iHome Alarm Ip23 clok. The cable could be a litle bit longer and the price could be lower!!! Thanks! I am not disappointed like what happen to some users!

Works for my needs

I bought this at the Apple Store the other day. I've had my iPhone 5 for about a month, and during this time I could not listen to music on my iHome. It drove me crazy, so I bought this cable, even though it is 40 dollars. It works for me, it charges my phone and lets me listen to music, so it does everything I need.

Worked great with a 2009 Dodge Journey factory Ipod connection
Written by

Had doubts if my Dodge factory radio unit would connect audio from it's 30 pin iPod connector to my iPad mini. This lighting adapter in addition with a Scosche passport charging adaptor is compatable with the factory radio unit controls. The iPad battery gets charged along with great sounding audio! Couldn't be happier! Hope this review helps Dodge/Chrysler owners out there.

A really awesome product for the Bose Sounddock II

I recently bought this product for my iPhone 5s because I have a Bose souddock II product made for the 4S, when I found out that the iPhone 5, 5S, & 5C upgraded to the lighting port, I decided to get this "Lighting to 30-pin adapter"... if you have a speaker product that doesn't match the 5S product, then this "lighting to 30-pin adapter is for YOU!

Works with BMW
Written by
Paul K
from Fort Lauderdale

I have a 2007 BMW with the iPhone Y-cable that has a 30-pin connector. With this car option and using the BMW Y-cable, I am able to fully access the music on my iPhone and use the iDrive controller and screen and steering wheel buttons. I just upgraded my iPhone from 4S to the 5S so needed a 30-pin to lighting connector that will still work with my current car's electronics. This cable worked flawlessly and I maintained all functionality.
Of course in newer BMW's the point would be moot, as you can control the music on the iPhone though the car's electronics using Bluetooth. But I am not ready to get trade in my car.

Finally, someting that works!
Written by

I got my 5s a week ago. I have had terrible difficulty with NOEM (non-original equipment manufacturer), both cords (i.e., USB to lightning) and adapters (i.e., 30 pin to lightning). If you plan to use 5s with stereo's (e.g., Bose, iHome, etc.) this adapter works great! Apple products, as always, are overpriced but so far it's been worth it. Everything will work properly. I am giving it 5 stars based on its functionality, not Apple's suggested retail price.

Bought the adapter to use with my iPhone 6 and an older Bose speaker that has a 30 pin connection. I had NO problem using the adapter with the otterbox case I have. I received it in the mail today and am back to streaming music through my phone.

I bought this adapter because mi Kia Forte 30 pin cable won't work on my 5s obviously. I was worried the adapter would not support the audio like it did with my iphone 4. It worked perfectly with the factory cable the Kia has, like it was with my previous iphone.

I bought this to regain the ability to listen to my music in my 2010 VW Tiguan (no MDI, bluetooth phone link only) via a 3.5mm stereo Auxillary jack. I have it connected to a third party "Y"-cable (30-pin to USB and 3.5mm stereo plug). It allows me to listen to my music and charge my iPhone 5S. It seems to be outputting a line level signal to my radio just as my 30GB Video iPod did.

Great as an extension
Written by

I use this to extend an original 30 pin charging cable from my iPod 6th generation nano. I use it for both my iPhone 6 and iPad mini 2. It gives me a little more reach and lets me save my lightning cables as backups since they are apparently prone to breaking. When I need to charge my nano I just remove the adapter. One chord for all 3 devices makes it convenient for me.

Was a lil worried after the reviews, but it works fine for me me...
Written by

Primary reason I bought this was to see if the iPad camera connection kit I just picked up last fall for my iPad 3 would work on my iPad mini w/retina I just bought---any other uses were just icing on the cake. I have a Nikon D5200 and both adapters in the kit (the SD card reader and USB adapter) work just fine---USB connection has issues if the battery on the camera itself is running low but otherwise works great.
Next, got down to trying it on everything else in the house?late model Samsung home theater receiver w/iPod dock (bought it waaay back when the iPod w/video first came out), and my Sony Dream Machine clock radio w/docking station I bought 3-4 yrs ago. Both the iPad mini AND my iPhone 5s work great on these "senior" devices. Aaaaaalmost bought the version of this adapter that's just the connector without the cable extension---glad I didn't so I could ensure everything had room to plug in and seat correctly. Not as slick-looking, but in this case I preferred function & versatility over form.
My car has Bluetooth and USB interfaces to connect music devices rather than an iPod-specific connection, so had no chance to try this cable there. Guess I can try it with rental cars when I travel but with all the alternate ways you can connect iPods/Phones to car stereos, this wasn't a big personal concern of mine.

Kia Sorento 2011 Compatible
Written by

Did some research for a product to convert the 30Pin to the 8pin. I have the new iPhone 5S and iPad with retina display. The iPhone has an otterbox case and I read from the reviews that the smaller converter would not fit or that the 8pin gets loose from the angle that the phone is at. I have a 2011 Kia Sorrento with the 30pin ipod cord that has a USB and Aux cable. I needed to make sure that this cord would be compatible with other non Apple products since Apple changed the algorithm in all their cords. I bought it yesterday and hooked it up. Works Great. Have not tried it on any Ipod Docks or any other locations except for my car. The price at with tax is outrageous, but I couldn't handle listening to regular radio for 2 days straight when I drive at least 2-3 hours a day in the car.
